VoiceRead, a Google Chrome extension, transforms web reading into an effortless and audible experience. Drawing inspiration from the VoiceDream app for iPad, it combines text-to-speech technology with synchronized highlighting and a customizable interface for a personalized web reading journey. Developed initially for MIT’s 6.811 course, Principles and Practices of Assistive Technology, VoiceRead was created to aid individuals with dyslexia.
Please be aware that this is a beta version, which means you might encounter some bugs, and certain voices may not perform as well as others. As an open-source project, VoiceRead welcomes contributions and bug fixes. Currently, VoiceRead supports English only, but with sufficient interest, it could be expanded to include additional languages.
